The Maltz Museum is seeking passionate upstanders to help recognize our future leaders. Now in its 12th year, our flagship program “Stop the Hate” awards students with over $100,000 in college scholarships annually. We receive over 2,000 essays every year and we need YOUR help by reading and scoring these entries. This is where you come in! Volunteer as a Stop the Hate Reader and stand up to discrimination and bias by empowering young people to speak out.
What will I be doing?
Stop the Hate Readers review around twenty 500-word essays and score them based on an easy-to-use rubric. This year’s reading periods are: January 9th-14th, 2020 (reading period one) and January 21st-26th, 2020 (reading period two). Volunteers are asked to read for both periods, but we understand prior commitments and allow readers to participate in whichever reading period works best for their schedule.
Am I eligible to volunteer?
if you are older than 18, not a teacher at an eligible school, not a parent or family member of an entrant or museum staff or board of trustees, you are eligible to volunteer for this rewarding and flexible opportunity.
