Brother against brother, Jew against Jew, 10,000 Jewish soldiers fought on both sides of the battlefield. This remarkable film reveals the little-known struggles that faced Jewish Americans in the field and on the home front during the nation’s deadliest war. Marjorie R. Wilson, specialist on Clevelanders in the Civil War, leads a post-viewing discussion.
Visit the Maltz Museum on Facebook in May for a daily trivia question on famous Jewish Americans prepared by Rosemary Nemeth of the Beachwood Historical Society and a list of books on Jewish American Heritage compiled by Beachwood Public Library.

OPENING DAY (11am – 5pm)
A Blessing to One Another: Pope John Paul II and the Jewish People
More than a mere historical exhibit, A Blessing to One Another: Pope John Paul II and the Jewish People is an interactive experience that allows visitors to follow in John Paul II’s footsteps from his childhood to his role as head of the world’s largest church. The exhibit is divided into four major sections, reflecting the four periods in the pope’s life. Visitors become part of the documentary, walking through a multi-sensory experience: backdrops of enlarged photos and period postcards supporting artifacts tragic and triumphant, all set against evocative soundscapes.
