If you are among the many who do not celebrate Christmas you could be hard pressed to find quality outings on December 25th. (Of course, the same holds true for those who do celebrate Christmas and simply want to get out of the house for a few hours during the day to explore a destination that is not a movie theater.) This year, the Maltz Museum affirms its tradition of providing a family-friendly place to go with our first ever “Can-Can” day. For that Friday only, Museum-goers are invited to pay “what they can” and/or bring canned goods for donation to Semach Sedek R.I.A.S. Kosher Food Bank & Pantry and the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. This offer gives visitors access to the full Museum, including the special Violins of Hope exhibition, as well as a special 2pm screening of Orchestra of Exiles, the acclaimed documentary about how one man helped save Europe’s premiere Jewish musicians from the Nazis. Guests of all ages will also be encouraged to craft a cheery New Year’s greeting card for patients at University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center.
I invite you to join us on for this special day. It is an excellent opportunity to rediscover the power of this Museum and to be inspired by the Violins of Hope. Docents will be stationed throughout the blockbuster exhibition–which closes January 3rd–to answer your questions.
We hope to see you here soon, but if we don’t . . . here’s to a bright and prosperous 2016!
