Judy’s family is on the middle of a moving across town. On the first night of Chanukah, Judy’s parents have to go out, leaving Judy and her brother, Lior, home alone. Upset that the family isn’t together celebrating the first night of Chanukah, she takes her bike back to the old house to search for the family’s menorah. She discovers that not only does the menorah, Shammes, have the ability to talk but something has gone wrong with the story of Chanukah. Judy and Shammes now have to race to fix the history of Chanukah before it’s time to light the first candle. All while Judy’s family frantically searches for her so they can celebrate together as a family. Through the story, she learns to face her fears and to be brave (like the Maccabees). The play focuses on being brave and standing up for what is right.
