Learn the story behind “Culture Fix,” created by Dede and Nitzan in response to the acute loss of culture during the Covid pandemic. The installation consists of a series of images reflecting the journey artists undertake to heal and reconnect with the community. “Culture Fix” is a manifestation of healing. Dede will also discuss his signature imagery of Band-Aids and how they begin the process of tikkun olam, repairing the world.
The evening includes a screening of the “Culture Fix CLE” short documentary, an official selection of the Cleveland International Film Festival, the Chagrin Documentary FilmFest, and the Cleveland Jewish Film Fest.
Dede is a multidisciplinary urban artist, who utilizes various mediums to communicate within the public arena. Nitzan is a visual poet who creates collages of words and materials. As partners in life and practice, they find inspiration in the vibrant pulse and constant flux of urban environments. Their artworks and site-specific projects are inspired by themes of post-trauma, childhood, and decay.
This program is presented in partnership with Cleveland Israel Arts Connection
