Special Event: James Rorimer’s Mission to Save European Art from the Nazis
Wednesday, January 15 at 7:00 pm
Held at Maltz Museum
$10 general admission, $5 members
Louis Rorimer discusses his father’s book: Monuments Man: The Mission to Save Vermeers, Rembrandts, Da Vincis and More from the Nazis’ Grasp. This landmark, reissued in an enhanced edition, offers a first-hand account of James Rorimer’s service as a monuments officer during WWII. Born in Cleveland, James volunteered for the Army, where he became a leading figure in the effort to recover art stolen by the Nazis, as depicted in the 2014 movie, The Monuments Men. Actor Matt Damon’s character in the movie is based on James Rorimer.
