Documentary shows Jewish contributions to the game

May 26, 2011 – Not watching the NBA Playoffs because of LeBron and the Heat? Still need some basketball this summer?  The Maltz Museum has what you need. In June, as part of it’s “Jewish Americans on Film” series, the Museum is screening the 2008 documentary The First Basket. The film shows the role Jewish players had in the game’s evolution and the impact the game itself had in the assimilation of American Jews. As an added bonus, former professional basketball star Tamir Goodman (once dubbed “The Jewish Jordan” bySports Illustrated) will be on-hand for a post-viewing discussion.
